Its a wrap! 2018 has been an year of ups and downs, in health, blogging, life and everything. My digestion issues meant I was eating less of legumes and you probably noticed that slight shift on the blog from a whole lotta chickpeas to more of mushrooms and tofu. I do make a lot of legume based meals, but with from scratch cooked beans rather than canned and also eat it only on the day they are cooked (no leftovers for me). So a lot of meals get out to the neighborhood! (if you are in seattle main area and would like some, ping me on fb. I don’t deliver, you pick) 🙂

Blogging is now pretty competitive with all the amazing new blogs with great photography and content. The competitiveness of it as a business can get to one. My plan for 2019 is to continue to do what I love, i.e. develop amazing recipes, and then delegate and find help for the rest. There will always be people who can do things better in some ways, and stressing about it gets me nowhere. So lets just create and eat amazing food!

What I also learnt is that you the readers have various interests when it comes to food. Quick recipes obviously always work. There are tons of those already out there, some on the blog and books too. And even though a good portion of my recipes use a few more ingredients and a few more steps, you choose to trust them and love the results! I am incredibly thankful that you do! Thank you for the support and love this year. Here is to many more! Wish you all a very Happy 2019!

Here are the popular recipes from the year with a few of my favorites that were not as popular and also some recipes that have been consistently loved from the archives! What did you try from the blog this year that you were not sure about but turned out amazing? Let me know in the comments.

    I made your Black Bean Tinga recipe. I always have a go to pot of beans or lentils in my fridge. I work the night
    shift so I just have to fill a bowl up and microwave . Easy Peasy breakfast. Your recipes are the best. Thank you

    We have a long-standing tradition of lentil soup on New Year’s Day. This year, I decided to try your Spicy Garlic Dal recipe and it was a smash hit! Everyone loved it (I added baby spinach and served it over basmati rice). Thank you so much for your work – I enjoy cooking your recipes so much. My Indian Food cookbook is rippled, dog-eared and lavishly decorated with sauce splats.

    I have enjoyed every recipe I’ve tried from your blog so a big THANKS to you for creating such wonderful recipes with beautiful photos to go with them! Some recipes my daughter and I enjoyed this year were your IP lasagna soup, samosa wraps, and IP lentil sweet potato/eggplant curry. And I loved making the kitchari jars to give away at Christmas – great idea!!

    I am not a food blogger but share online about paper crafts and can relate to the feelings of competitiveness and stress. I hope you won’t let it get to you because your work is amazing!! Just reading this post I can see I have more recipes I need to make. 🙂

    Wishing you health and happiness in the new year!

    Hi Richa!

    Thank you x a million for your recipes! Your site is my go-to for dinner ideas. The recipes I made the most this year are daal baati, lasagna soup, and the Jamaican lentil and cannellini bean curry. I’ve made them multiple times for my husband and for pot lucks and I ALWAYS get raves over these recipes thanks to you! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2019 🙂

    Love your recipes, they have never let me down. I really like the variety of cuisines and flavors you cover. All the instant pot recipes are super welcome too, I have one and don’t quite know what to do with it. My fav recipe this year was the instant pot butter chicken with soy curls. It was so easy and so good!

    Happy new year to you. I didn’t think you could top your first cookbook but your second one is even better. Congratulations on the set up and the great recipes in it. Don’t worry about photography on your blog. Nice to have but I already know what a chickpea looks like. What I look for on cooking blogs are recipes and yours are the best. Keep on doing what you do best – cooking.

    Thank you, Richa – for this end-of-year post, as well as all that you do with your blog and cookbooks.

    2018 was a “very Richa year” for me – I made many dishes from “Everyday Kitchen” and several from recent blog posts.

    Highlights for me were:
    * Black Pepper Tofu
    * Massaman Curry Vegetables
    * Crispy Kung Pao Cauliflower
    * Curried Vermicelli with Spinach
    * Sweet Potato, Peanut, and Chickpea Burgers
    * Baharat Chickpea Burgers
    * Instant Pot Mushroom Tetrazzini
    * Vegan Cauliflower Tikka Masala
    * Instant Pot Saag Aloo
    * Mushroom Chickpea Soup with Veggies and Greens.

    There are a lot more – that I’ve got pinned and am wanting to try – which will likely join that list of my faves.

    Thank you again and best wishes for 2019.

    My family and I enjoy the complex flavors of your dishes. The spices do something magical to the fruits and veggies. Even if I don’t have every single one of the spices on hand I can still make a sauce/dish and know it’ll taste awesome.

    Happy 2019 to you and your family from sunny South Africa! This year I loved this recipe: Creamy Sun Dried Tomato Pasta with Garlic Soy curls… but there are so many great recipes on your blog including your pumpkin pie recipe which I now use every year. I also regularly list your blog as one of the best for anyone beginning their vegan journey as I am an admin for the leading SA vegan FB page.

    Please continue to do what you do best… tasty always reliable recipes with lots of options so that just about anyone can enjoy them.

    Thank you for your recipes Richa! I read lots of cooking blogs and yours are among the recipes I make and come back to most often. Some of my personal faves are your Brown Rice Mung Bean Kitchari (probably the one I make most often!), Eggplant Sambar, the Samosa Wraps listed above, Saag Aloo with Sweet Potatoes, and the Cannellini and Lentil Jamaican Curry. I wish you health and happiness in the new year!!
