I put this as number one because I had so much fun making these bird feeders with my kids. This is definitely an activity to add to your spring bucket list ideas! Using a pinecone, peanut butter, and bird seeds, we created a bird feeder that our birds adored! Here’s anInstagram postwhere I showed how we did it!

2. Plant for Earth Day

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (3)

Earth Day is everyday over here! Whether we’re talking about eco friendly living, testing out new eco friendly products, or doing environmental science lessons with students, we love to find ways to live with the environment in mind. Earth Day happens on April 22 of each year. To celebrate, try planting some trees for Earth Day! If you don’t have space to plant trees, you can plant shrubs or, like my next suggestion a garden.

3. Start an edible garden

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (4)

An edible garden is a garden full of plants that bear fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Every spring we plan an edible garden and not only do we have a great time, but our kids do too! I love edible gardens because you can either buy seeds from the store or you can use old parts of fruit and vegetables to plant new plants! If you don’t have the space outdoors or you’re afraid you can’t maintain healthy plants, try starting with container gardening inside or grow herbs in your window! Herbs are so easy to grow.

I have anInstagram video hereabout growing plants and reusing egg cartons!

If you’re still not sure where to start with gardening, check out my full garden plannerhere.

Festival season is here! I love a good festival. From the foo to the music, festivals are the best ways to enjoy the springtime and make the most of your spring bucket list of activities. Look up festivals in your city first to see what is offered. Often your city will host free events that are family friendly. It’s also a perfect opporutnity to see other places that may offer spring festivals, especially during spring break time!

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (6)

This is something I add to my spring bucket list ideas each year! I’m a spring birthday girl so on my birthday I find a different trail to hike. It’s a tradition that my whole family knows now and expects. We make a whole day out of it and have such a great time. Hiking is one of the best spring activities because you get to spend time outside in nature and get exercise. It is a great activity to do both solo and with a group of people.

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (7)

Every season is the perfect season for fresh produce at the Farmer’s Market, right?! I’ve read andy of my other bucket list blog posts you’ve probably seen me put farmers market as a bucket list ideas because it’s that good! Farmer’s markets are a great way to grab your spring veggies, try new things, and support local. Farmer’s help to keep our food agriculture going! Being able to support smaller farmer’s is crucial to the local economy and is a great place to find alternative food than the grocery store. To make this an even more fun activity for your spring bucket list ideas, try a new farmer’s market each month. Depending on where you live, you may be able to try a new one each week!

7. Play outside on a rainy day

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (8)

April showers bring May flowers, they say! This spring, embrace the rainy weather and play outside. I got my kids’ rain boots and rain jackets and allowed them to have a great time splashing in puddles and enjoying themselves in their own backyard. Even though we all love sunny days, there is something about those rainy days as the first signs of spring.

If playing outside in the rain isn’t your idea of a fun activity, try watching the rain under a porch or in the garage. This is a great idea to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy the spring weather while still staying nice and dry!

8. Read a good book outside

11. Go strawberry picking

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (13)

Have you ever been strawberry picking? Let me first say it is a lot of work! However, strawberry picking is delicious! At my previous job every year we would have a sign up sheet where people would bring a different dish made of strawberries each day of the week. It was a way for all of us to use up the strawberries we’d picked and try new recipes. This year I also got a new plant for my birthday and the strawberries grew beautifully! My kids loved checking to see if they were ripe and picking them each day.

12. Make homemade pizza

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (14)

Pizza is such a comfort food. I don’t think there is any season where pizza is inappropriate, but to make it fun let’s add homemade pizza to our spring break bucket list ideas! It’s a perfect excuse to eat this doughy goodness. My family and I usually use the Calipower Pizza Crust and add the topping to that, but once a year in the spring we make homemade pizza crust. We allow the dough to rise and roll it out before adding topping. It’s so much fun!

13. Do an outdoor workout

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (15)

From pilates to jogging, there is no better time for outdoor workouts than the spring. The weather is warm, but not too hot which means you can work up a sweat without being miserable! If you don’t have a gym you like to attend, feel free to do a YouTube workout or workout program in your own backyard. I’m still enjoying my workouts byPilates By Raven, but for more intense and toning workouts I love followingSarah’s Day ebooks.

14. Don’t feed the geese

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (16)

Yes, you read that right. DON’T feed the geese. Geese do not need us to feed them. I know this may be a new concept for most because I too grew up feeding to geese until I worked for the city in the stormwater division and learned that feeding geese is bad for the environment.

Here are a few reasons why you should not feed these geese:

  • It creates unnatural food competition
  • It contributes to water pollution because of increased poop/droppings
  • Leftover food from feedings is left in the environment
  • Bread doesn’t provide proper nutrition
  • Geese can forget their natural food-finding instincts and begin to solely rely on human feeding
  • The birds stop migrating
  • Creates habits of begging for food and geese plunging through garbage for food

15. Plan out your summer vacation

23. Wear floral prints

How To Make The Most of Spring: Ultimate Spring Bucket List Ideas (Eco Friendly Ideas!) - Teach Go Green (28)

Nothing says “Happy spring!” like wearing floral prints and brighter colors. From spring nails to spring outfit ideas, let’s get excited about dressing for the season! One of my favorite ways to incorporate floral prints during the spring is to go to the thrift store and thrift dresses! For whatever reason, I have the BEST luck with thrifting dresses in the springtime. Perhaps it is because people don’t wear dresses often, but I always find high-quality dresses, perfect for special events that start occurring as the weather changes.

If spring dresses or thrifting aren’t really your thing (although thrifting can be everyone’s thing with just a little patience and creativity!), check out the sustainable fashion brand Poplinen. I’ve been wearing Poplinen for years now! They’re a women-owned business that focuses on ethical labor, quality clothing, and sustainably sourced fabrics and materials. My favorite item from their spring collection this year is the Rita Linen Shirt. It is breathable, lightweight, and easy to layer for the sporadic spring weather!
